OUR OFFER

Set within the therapeutic surroundings of Hartcliffe City Farm, Arise ALP offers 1:1 mentoring and alternative education for young people who are struggling to engage in a mainstream setting.

Our Curriculum- Building a Future

We provide an enriching curriculum that equips our students with the skills and support needed to move on to positive destinations.

We believe in a delivering quality academic sessions each morning, delivered by our talented teaching staff. Learners are assessed when they start with us, and progress is monitored regularly throughout. This assessment will inform their learning map and learning goals with Arise.

Interventions are regularly put in place for learners that require them, whether this be in literacy (TRUGS & Toe by Toe interventions), numeracy or mental health. We provide bi-weekly reports to update on progress as well as giving daily attendance updates.

Learners can also access units from a wide range of vocational areas, and these are coupled with core maths, English and PSHE units. Vocational units include:

  • Music Production (including rapping and singing)
  • Art & Photography
  • Animal Care (utilising our city farm setting)
  • Carpentry
  • Sports & Fitness
  • Cooking Skills

A Sense of Belonging

Our curriculum is designed with Bristol's Belonging Strategy in mind. This is especially important to us as many of our students may feel a sense of rejection from the commissioning school. We focus heavily on adopting a trauma informed approach that helps foster strong and lasting relationships built on trust. Our students have many opportunities to get involved with community-based activities (both within and outside our Hartcliffe city farm location).  These further that sense of belonging to the community.

We regularly review our curriculum to ensure that BAME communities are represented.  We interweave positive black history throughout the curriculum and follow a cultural calendar that ensures we are celebrating events from a wide range of cultures and beliefs.
